ISUtv, Iowa State University’s student-run television station, was recently awarded the title of “Best Student Media Website” at the 2011 Student Production Awards contest held in August by the College Broadcasters, Inc.
According to CBI, 580 entries from around the globe were judged and whittled down to finalists from 47 schools. ISUtv was up against three other finalists for the title of “Best Student Media Website”, but was named the winner at the October 28th National College Media Convention held in Orlando, Florida for “making the best effort to provide solid Internet strategy for their campus media outlet.”
CBI judges based their decisions off of:
- How easy the site is to navigate
- How user friendly the web site is for first time visitors
- If the web site is a destination/resource for viewers
In order to continue to improve their web presence and ensure students are prepared for Internet based media work after leaving Iowa State, ISUtv is planning to revamp and redesign their online operations for the upcoming spring semester in January.
